It is with profound shock and sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Maria (Maju) Viegas Furtado, beloved wife, sister, aunt, and tireless uplifter of community.

Maju passed unexpectedly just after midnight on August 16 at her home in California from a cardiac arrest. She was vibrant and full of life until the very end, having only recently returned from a trip to Canada. Her loss has come as an immense shock to all who knew and loved her.

Our family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, support, and condolences during this incredibly difficult time. Thank you for keeping Maju and our family in your thoughts.
